What are you leaving behind?

What a hard and emotional thing to think about! Wow. And seriously, why would I, as a photographer, say that. Well, over the past 10 years, I have these hard conversations in my design consultations over the phone and in person prior to the actual photo session with potential clients.

I would agree, that it is a very hard conversation; however, when we think about preparing for the future and making necessary preparations so our families don't have to, one thing we all think about is the photo.

What does the image that could be the last one our friends and family see, say about us.

That puts a lot of pressure on both the photographer and the subject. It's very important that we work together to fulfill your needs.

Legacy Portraits

Legacy portraits in my mind and what this means to me. I started getting phone calls for situations where a spouse was in a situation, health or such, where they needed updated portraits as they knew these would be the last. This melted my heart and I knew I had to do my best to provide for not only my clients at that time, but for their families for years to come as they would reflect on these memories as well.

I then began to think, why are we not pushing to photograph before these moments? We look at monumental moments in life early on, but we don't think about, Hey, we are retiring, let's update our photos! But, again, why not?

Legacy to me is representing so many different times in our lives; it can be the time we become an empty nester, retire, have a significant birthday and so on.

Just don't let the moment pass.
